Best Coats for Winter 2013

Bright, Bold and Classy.

My personal addition to my coat collection was bright fushia this year! Hard to find but J.Crew and Banana Republic have some major scores on ebay!

J.Crew, you've outdone yourself! This minty-blue is the perfect shade for the upcoming cold months.

Go Flirty in this Full-Skirt Coat - Perfect for showing off curves and defining your waist.

I can't get enough of this bow neck. So chic, yet so warm!

Don't be scared of color - Olivia in bright yellow!

Loving this cozy wrap coat in this fall's popular oxblood color.

Add a little edge with leather details.

Lavender compliments any skin tone. I also love the Trench Style.

Grey Coat is a staple for me - but with these big, juicy buttons and neck wrap - it's anything but boring.

More of a print girl? Love this Full Skirt Bottom Coat in Leopard Print - meow!

The Mod Cat Eye

The Cat Eye: Popular then and NOW! It's a great way to add some chic to an outfit with the flexibility to pick from a mild shape to an intense pointy look. Have fun with it. I found my Betsey Johnson Cat Eyes at Marshalls for $12!

Here are some great options in stores now:

Fall Is In The Air..

Fall. Time for the scarves, boots, layering, cognac, cardigans, leopard, and plaid to come out to play. Yep - its happened - I caught the fall bug - now all my Pinterest obsessions are coats and stripes and I am increasingly becoming bored with short shorts and maxi dresses. Check out a few key selections below to get you inspired.

Things to look out for this Fall/Winter: Maroon, Leopard, Cognac, Emerald, Plaid, Winter-White, and Leather (Also, don't forget to get a statement coat in the BRIGHT color of your choosing!)

Have a good labor day weekend! I guess that's the big reminder than summer is truly over and we need to start covering our piggle toes up with cute flats and riding boots =) I am not complaining.

(disclosure: coming from FL - I know all of my FL people are scratching their heads - there is no stopping the shorts and flip flops - not til January at least. )

The Fallen Disney Princesses

I love these - The 'Fallen Princesses' series are by Dina Goldstein. I find them completely hysterical - and very well executed. The credit must go to Kiki's List (blog here

As you can see, I have fallen off the radar for about two months - that's what summer will do I guess. Anyway,  I'm back settled now - and will be updating regularly again. A lot has happened since I left - Patrick got a promotion and we got relocated to the north! Very hectic and fast-paced move - I guess that can explain my disappearance.

Makeup by Jaclyn Hill

This girl has it. I went to high school with Jaclyn Hill's now-husband Jon - and when I saw this girl pop up on my Pinterest - I thought nothing of that that fact! I clicked on her youtube videos only to realize she went to a neighboring high school and was this fabulous makeup whiz! I am not addicted to her videos and since she and I have similar coloring (light skin, dark hair, light eyes) - I like to be able to take her product advice and also, to be more adventurous with my makeup application. We are girls after all - lets use all the power we have!

Above is Jaclyn Hill - she recently died her hair this fire-y red - which I love! You can easily find her account on youtube by searching her name - she has become quite popular so she should come up - she has her own channel with many, many videos - they are fun to watch and you can follow along with her as she applies her makeup in the tutorials. She use to work at Mac cosmetics but has recently quit to start her own venture as an independent makeup artist!

Here is one of my favorite eyes she's done - I think its perfect for a daytime drama without looking too smokey! I love golds, oranges, and brown tones on my eyes because it makes Blues POP!

Now I have to plug a product! Because of Jaclyn - I cant get over her fabulous punch of lip color she has in every video. I always try and go to the drugstore to try new lipstick and I end up like I just drank a punch of red kool-aid =( Jaclyn (luckily) doesn't just where high-end makeup - she drugstores it too! Thats when I ran out (last night!) to grab some of Maybelline's Vivid Colorsensation Lipstick! I cant get over it! So many fun colors - I want them all =)

I ended up purchasing the SHOCKING CORAL #910 (which for some reason at my Walgreens was #870 - odd) anyway - I am going to St. Augustine Florida with my Girls this weekend for Jennie's Bachelorette Weekend! It should be a really good time and I should be looking festive as ever with my shockingly pink pout! (Vivid Colorsensation Lipstick by Maybelline - $7 drugstores)

Here Jaclyn is wearing the Neon Red color - go check out her youtube video - its addicting!

Color: Chartreuse

In fashion - its known as Neon Green. In the color world it's Chartreuse, a bright-bold statement color that many may fear cannot be pulled off - especially in the home. Here are some fine examples of how you can add a vibrant splash without looking like you just stepped into a Key Lime Pie.

If you are an avid follower of mine - you might be noticing how completely inthralled I am lately with Home Decor and Interior Design - its all I seem to blog about! Please excuse me if that bothers you and you came here looking for Fashion - fashion will be back, I just have noticed I've caught a little decor bug that makes me every free moment go into redecorating my home in some way and collecting ideas to do so. Maybe its the change in seasons?

Here is a fun way to spice up the dining room - no need to paint a whole wall! Just get some funky chairs!

Another piece of furniture that is totally modernized with this bright hue.

Ok here is someone that went to extreme and threw it on the walls - how daring! It paid off though - I love it! Sorry for the blurred picture- I blew it up to show you, but its really, really tiny in actuality.

That bed !! Swoon!

Ok this is a blogger I recently stumbled upon and she did a re-do of her lamp here - before it was the typical silver floor lamp and she decided to spray paint it using Krylon's Ivy Leaf. It turned out great, don't you think? A nice pop.

Love me some colored front doors.

Not a wall - but the back of a bookshelf? I love it - my favorite use of the color out of it all in a home. I will promise you - one way or another -I will do this in my home. It may be in a child's room - but it is happening.
