Favorite Foodie Pins I Have Tried

Okay so we all pin a million and one things onto our Pinterest board and then we hardly ever look back at them! I have selected a few recipes that I have actually TRIED and LIKED!

Here is my review:

Philly Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers
I made these recently, I wanted to make Patrick Philly Cheese Steaks for dinner one night but I wanted to make myself a healthy version. They were delicious. Only thing is, the pepper took a while to warm - I put the steak, onion and cheese mixture and put into the pepper, then popped the whole thing into the oven - by the time the cheese was melted - the pepper was still mildly cool and I wanted it piping hot! So I would probably warm that puppy up in the oven before hand so you are not gnawing on raw pepper with your cheesesteak.

Cajun Shrimp Avocado Cracker
This is phenomenal - I've made this twice and both times were big hits. However, the most recent time I made it, it was for a evening party - and I made it mid-day - well, you guessed it, avocado was brown by the time it was served, and although delicious - it was just a bit unappealing looking.

Golf Course Cupcakes
I made this for Patricks Birthday last year - and it was a great success! A lot of work - but fun work! You can choose whichever cupcake flavor you'd like - I chose Funfetti because thats Patricks favorite... his second favorite being Red Velvet, which would look like a pretty weird golf course.

Apple Peanut Coconut Chip Snack
These are a nice little snack when you are craving something sweet. Apple, Peanut Butter, Sweetened Coconut Flakes, Pecans, Chocolate Chips and Peanut Butter Chips (optional)
So Delicious and Easy!
Rating 4 out of 5

Apricot Brie Stuffed Crescent
YUM! So good as well - I severed it with crackers and apples and grapes - the crackers were easiest to eat with but they were really unneeded due the the crescent roll wrapping. Only tip, it takes longer than you think to cook the dough all the way through when there is cheese inside - and do not expect it to come out as pretty as that picture ^

Honey Dijon Pretzel Crusted Chicken
This was my most recent adventure - and frankly it was pretty simple - and not too many ingredients to deal with! It was heavy and filling  - something to make rare...also, probably something 5-10 yr olds would like. Yummy but definitely not going to make too often. Also, instead of making the dipping sauce on the side - I coated the chicken in a dijon mustard and honey mix, then rolled it into crushed Pretzels.
Rating 3 out of 5

Cucumber Crab Cups
I made these for a party - mistake #1 - trying to make my own crab dip instead of using store bought. It was hard to find good crab meat so I ended up with imitation crab = yuck! It just was a weird consistency. Next time I make this, and there will be a next time, I will buy store-made tuna salad or chicken salad and plop it in there - add my own paprika and green onions on top - and call it a day!

Easy Healthy Whole Wheat Pasta
So this is Whole Wheat Pasta with breadcrumbs, lemon juice, parsley, salt and pepper. Can I just say its awesome? Its so delicious! and not a fattening creamy sauce. I have made this several times.

Please feel free to email me any questions you may have - or if you would like the recipe!

Trendy Tuesday: Mint

Mint

Mint is a great, easy, happy spring trend that has been around for about two years now - but is not showing signs of going anywhere. From jewelry, weddings, home decor, to evening gowns and skinny jeans - it is truly everywhere you look.

It gives a fresh, clean feeling that looks good on everyone. I like it during the warmer months because if I have any sort of tan at all - it makes it pop!

This fabulous Mint leather strap watch can be found at Lord & Taylor - Don't have one near you? Order online! Price point? Under $100!!

Essie is my beyond favorite nail polish brand - its so rich in color and easy to put on (I do my own nails weekly so it's important for it to be easy and high in quality!) This is Essie's Mint Candy Apple - they have a few shades of mint in their collection but they're all good (some more greenish, some more blueish - all minty!) It just depends what speaks to you!

Honestly, I think Kate Middleton has been in every single one of my Trendy Tuesdays so far - talk about trend setter! This is so pretty and classy - It really shows you how to pair mint with neutrals in order to accomplish a classy, simple look.

Bringing it back 60s style! This is a Retro Rotary Telephone! It was just found online - I am not sure you can purchase this anywhere - probably at an antique shop or flea market. So cute right?! Too bad I don't have a land line...

More fabulous trendy girls in the finest mint - I love Extra's Maria Menounos's dress the best - The different shades of mint in the chiffon material looks romantic and gorg.

Marianda Kerr looking breezy and beautiful as always

These are awesome! I need some mint earrings - These were found on Etsy.com actually and after a bit of research - Etsy apparently has TONS of mint earrings just like this! Also, with silver base instead of gold - if that's more your thing =)

Minty Macaroons. Yum.

Oh gezz - not only do I want to wear this to the many upcoming weddings I have this year - but I am also tempted to throw my bridesmaids in this beaut! Cannot track down where the heck this is found (saw in google images) If anyone knows - help a sista out!!

This is a cute look as well - wearing mint with all black - this allows the mint to really shine - also can be worn while filling the gas tank! Who knew?!

Now for some home decor in the fabulous mint green. I wish I could do this room - maybe one day- the vases on the wall and amazing - so daring! I wonder if I could pull it off?

OOOOOH calming - doesn't it make you want to have a spa day?!

Pretty in Mint - I find these tulle skirts to be coming deeply into fashion as well - I'd love to throw this on with a white J.Crew tee and a jean jacket - Hello Spring!

Nice Top - this girl is all over pinterest in this getup - its almost an edgy-mint green look - very unique!

Took my engagement photos this Saturday - they're being edited now and should be to me by the end of the week - stay tuned and I will post them as soon as I get my hands on them! Can't wait!

Office Tour!

Welcome to my Office!

After just recently getting a new job - it only took me about a week to get completely and utterly sick of the gray, bland box I was living in - therefore, I decided to spruce it up a bit! Check it out!

I purchased very few things - most of the stuff was from home - pinterest was a big inspiration on what to do and some fun creative ideas!

I love the idea of the pictures hanging on a string - like so ^ It makes it a much more casual feel and allows me to have many pictures around without a million frames bulking up my space! I have white paper clips attaching them to a fabric string - but I also saw some people using mini clothes line clips to hang there pictures which I thought was awesome - except I couldnt find them =(

I love my little @ symbol! This little guy has gone everywhere with me (job wise) since moving to NY - I also have an ampersand (&) but I like that at home - its in a good spot and I couldn't bare to move it - but be aware that I am keeping my eyes peeled for another ampersand to bring to work!

Probably my favorite part of the office is my new cactus friends and my succulent! I got them at Lowes and they were so cheap! $1-$4 bucks a pop! I got the idea from my fav blog - Glitter and Grace. (www.glitterandgrace.com)

Aren't they cute?! Also, they are perfect for the office since they dont need much sun or water =)
I got the '5' mini jar at The Christmas Tree Shoppes - great store, not enough of them around!

Gotta love my 'H' - its from Anthropologie and it was a gift from my lovely Maggie Confrey <3
This little guy is adoable - eh? He is from Kirklands. I scooped him up for $4.99 - how could I resist?

This is a joyful thing that helps me to smile every morning. I love daises, they are my favorite flower and these yellow ones are perfect for the new spring season! The jar is actually just a normal mason jar that I spray painted silver - cheap DIY!

Amazing Home Decor

Hello Everyone - Today is Sunday - meaning tomorrow is Monday - boo! Luckily, I start a new job tomorrow, I am half nervous and half excited! I think it will be good!
I decided today's post will include some of my favorite home decor ideas! Enjoy!

I love color but I cannot deny how lovely this wall looks with the mixed neutrals. I need need NEED to find a place to do this in my current home =) These shadow boxes can be found at Michaels or any craft store - I believe they usually come in black - but you could paint them whatever color you choose! The vases and pottery might be able to be found at a dollar store (which would be awesome!) but the craft store has you covered for these as well!

Could this bed look any fluffier? I actually used this as inspiration for my current bedorom - I wanted a dark wall (I chose Navy because my living room is Gray) and all white sheets, pillows, comforter, and curtains! Love it - so gender neutral and cozy.

Okay - this is DEFINETLY on my To-Do-(Now) List! Crates can be found ($5-$10/ea) at any craft store - and it looks like you need a slab of table top/wood for the bar - besides that just your nice glasses and wine bottles - you are set! HATE the orange wall by the way - ruins it! I have the perfect corner for this project (I am thinking this will be funded by new job 1st paycheck - ya?!)

This is another room I used for current inspiration! If you see my home tour post you will see my dining room also has a 'mirror window'  - I got my mirrors at Target $5 each! So cheap!! I love it because it really opens up the room.

Not into wine? Try a coffee bar! I love this look (esp. with the red wall and dark distressed wood) It's such a fresh idea and cute for have guests over! Love the big letter on top as well - Love me some giant decor letters =)

This is cool - Apparently these are big fake mosaic tiles you can get from Lowes or Home Depot - They are pretty inexpensive and made out of plastic. Using a few different colors of complementing paint - this makes a great, unique accent wall for any room in the house! A must-do on my list!

I just love the feeling I get when looking at this room. The deep, clean, color of these walls with the bright white and dark stained wood is perfect together! It just makes everything..POP!

This is in my future for sure. A breakfast nook that is a somewhat couch/bench type deal. It looks so cozy and unique. I love it - especially with the colors they used in this picture.

Love the color of these walls - I like my house to have bright, statement walls - and I am drawn especially to cool colors. This blue is wild but it works and doesn't make the room look to kiddie!

Love charcoal walls - and the mix of grays, teal and whites in this bedroom are perfect. The bed frame alone is perfect - everything is so unique and special in this room! I cant get enough - this is probably only a dream to me. (the rug too - excellent! )

Date Night Outfit Idea

Hey all! Here is my take on Date Night Outfits for this coming Spring - Whoo! I did one for a warmer evening type date and one for a cooler night date -  I love white, plum and navy together - I think its so classy but creative at the same time. The flirty pink skirt if the perfect shape for a date with a new guy - it's sexy without losing your innocence! Metallic strappy sandals are a great investment to your closet - its so easy to match with so many looks - and who doesn't love cognac wedges? Can you say Comf?!

Cool Date Night: Jeans | Tee | Blazer | Belt | Necklace | Clutch | Watch | Heels

Warm Evening Date: Skirt | Top | Earrings | Clutch | Wedges

Getting packed for my mini-vaycay this weekend. We are going back up north to visit Patrick's parents for the holiday. Pretty excited to get away for a bit - will post pics afterwards to show you all the (hopeful) fun!

Make Your Life Easier

Hi! Here are some amazing tips that make my life a whole lot easier - and I am sure will do the same for you! Enjoy! ...and sorry its Monday tomorrow =(

Have company on their way over and you forgot to put drinks in the fridge. Place your drinks in a large pot and cover with ice. Sprinkle 2 cups of salt on top of the ice and then fill the rest of the pot with water. Your drinks will be ice cold within 2 to 3 minutes.

Need to open a page in a new tab? Instead of right clicking and selecting "Open in new tab", save time by clicking on the link with the middle button on your mouse. If you don't have a mouse with a middle button you can hold down the ctrl key while clicking on the link. Or for Mac Users : Ctl + T

Get rid of the gap in the back of your pants by threading elastic through them.

To reheat pizza without getting the crust soggy, place the pizza in a nonstick skillet. Heat on low until warm.

When making deviled eggs, place the egg yolks in a plastic Ziploc bag with the rest of the ingredients. Close the bag and mash everything together. Once everything is well mixed cut off a small tip from one of the bottom corners of the bag and squeeze the contents into your egg white. Just too the bag once you are done for easy cleanup.

Keep an eye out for gifts for friends and family every time you go shopping. Buying gifts throughout the year will save a lot of time and stress when birthdays and Christmas rolls around.

Don't have time for exercise? Try double tasking. Do squats while you brush your teeth. Push-ups while waiting for the tub to fill up. One handed bicep curls while stirring sauce with the other hand.

If you have already sealed an envelope and realized you forgot to put something in it, place the envelope in the freezer for a couple hours. It will pop right open so you don't have to get another envelope.

For picture frames with two holes, hang them evenly and easily by placing a single strip of masking tape over the back covering the two holes. Mark each end of the tape where the holes are located for hanging the frame. Take the tape off and place it on your wall. Make sure it is level then hammer a nail in at each pen mark

If you can't find a shower curtain to match your bathroom style (in most cases I can only find solid black, brown, white and blue or really bright 'teeny-bopper' colors) Then try looking in the regular curtain section.

To peel a kiwi cut off the top and bottom, slip a spoon between the skin and the flesh. Twist the spoon around the the entire kiwi (keeping it between the skin and flesh the whole time). Then just pop the skin off.

Use Press'n Seal saran wrap to line your refrigerator shelves. When the shelves get dirty, just remove the wrap, toss in the trash and replace. No more scrubbing nasty food spills.

Stick old newspaper or magazines inside your boots when you store them. This will keep the tops from flopping over and adding unsightly creases to your boots.

Accidentally close a tab on your browser? No problem! Hit ctrl-shift-T and the page will pop up again.

Use a hanger with clips to hold your recipes up where you can see the. No more greasy fingerprint all over your recipe cards!!

Before grilling burger, press a hole in the middle of the patty. The hole will disappear as the burger cooks. This will minimize shrinking and you won't have to worry about them not being done in the center.

If your hair turns green from the chlorine in the pool, dissolve eight aspirin pills in a glass of warm water, coat hair with the solution, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse. The green will be gone.

Need to hang a picture but there is nothing on the back to hang it from? Once you are done with your soda, turn the tab around. Using a pair of pliers grab the bottom (short end) of the tab and bend the tab down into the mouth of the can while pulling up at the same time. This will ensure that the ring is still intact so that you can attach it to the back of your frame with a screw and hang your photo

Need to light a hard to reach candle but don't have any long matches? Use a piece of uncooked spaghetti.

The lines on a Solo cup are measurement marks.

Tired of stopping on every floor of the building every time you use the elevator. Hold the 'close door' button and keep holding while you select your floor number. This will allow you to skip all other floors and go straight to your destination.

Out of AA batteries? Use AAA batteries and fill the gap with a wad of tin foil on the positive side.

Clear your cookies before booking flights!! Many travel sites track the number of times you have visited and will base the price depending on this. By clearing your cookies it will look as though you are a first time visitor and your price will be lower.

Need to break in some new shoes? Fill ziplock bags with water and place in shoe - spread out so water fills all areas. Put into freezer overnight. When the water freezes into ice it expands and stretches out the shoes!
